Athletic Club coach Gaizka Garitano is under no illusions that Real Mallorca will offer tough opposition for his side on Saturday.
Real Mallorca are currently in 18th place in LaLiga Santander and are six points away from safety, whilst Athletic Club, in 10th place, make up part of a small group of clubs chasing Europa League qualification.
“It’s a very important match,” said Garitano at the pre-match press conference. “They [Mallorca] want to get out of the relegation zone.
“They have everything to play for and will be tough opposition.”
Garitano was able to rest several key players in Athletic’s 1-0 defeat against Barcelona and stressed the importance of the entire squad in the final stretch of the 2019/20 campaign.
“Playing every three days there are always problems,” the Athletic boss added. “But after the break some of them had at Camp Nou, I now have some fresh people.
“I have confidence in the whole squad.
“Those who have had less minutes have always responded.
“The other day they proved it. Everyone is ready.
“It’s impossible for a player to play 11 games in a month. We’re going to need everyone.”
Athletic Club face Mallorca on Wednesday at 14:00 at San Mamés.
